Thanksgiving - Family and Festivities

We were so happy that all of our family was able to come and visit us for Thanksgiving. These pictures are in a random order, but we wanted to post some of the fun times we had with everyone!
This is a pictures of Madelyn learning how to play volleyballoon. Fun, Fun!

Say Cheese! Madelyn has learned that when the camera comes out she should smile. It is pretty funny to see some of the cheesy faces that she makes.

Old Maid Anyone? And yes, that is Ratatulli on the T.V. behind us!

Hide and Seek

When Madelyn was playing with her blanket on the couch she seemed to be playing her own version of hide and seek. She pulled her blanket down over her face and sat quietly until we came and moved the blanket. With all the pink and red in the pciture she blends in pretty well.

Look Mom, I CAN STAND!

Today Madelyn stood by herself for the first time!!! Dan was playing with her in the living room while I was getting dinner ready when all of a sudden he said, " Madelyn is standing on her own!" Well, I thought that maybe he had wedged her in between the couch and some pillows so she could stand. I slowly left the kitchen to see just what was going on, and to my surprise when I came around the corner this is what I found...

She was balancing herself on the coffee table with no help from anyone!! So of course I had to run and grab the camera! I am so proud of her little accomplishment. This may be the first time I have been able to capture a big road mark on the actual day of hitting the mark, I guess I am proud of my accomplishment too.

Grandma!

Recently Madelyn received a package in the mail with a little note that said, "Give me rice and DON'T MAKE ME CALL GRANDMA!"
To honor this request we went to Meijer and bought Madelyn a chair so she could join us at the table. She really enjoys sitting at the table with us, but she still isn't sure about the food part of the request. She started as such a strong little rice lover, but lately she has given up solids to chewing on spoons and the sides of bowls. Rarely does any of the actual food make it into her little tummy.

However, she loves her little shirt and wears if with pride. Maybe someday she will really need to call Grandma for junk food that we won't give her.

I had to add this picture because I think she looks like a little smurf, and the bigger she gets the less she looks like a smurf. Her new born stages are disappearing too fast.

Cousins

We took a family trip up to South Bend, Indiana to visit the cousins. Madelyn is becoming a good little traveler. It only took 6 months for her to find joy in her car seat, but she has finally come to terms with it. We arrived on Saturday afternoon just before Ruben's baptism and during the 1st quarter of the Navy/Notre Dame football game. The only problem is that Madelyn didn't nap at all during the last 3 hours of the trip. So we showed up with a hyper little one who was excited about making noise during the quiet, and reverent parts of the baptism. She is still learning what the word reverence means... Anyway, it was a special day for little Ruben and we were glad we could be part of the celebration of a new little life. On a side note, Navy beat Notre Dame 23-21!!

The next day when everyone was well rested, we let the cousins play together a little bit. I am pretty sure Ruben was indifferent to the whole idea, but Madelyn couldn't wait to get her sticky mitts onto something else she could chew on.

Thank Heavens that Madelyn could never quite get Rubens patty into her mouth.

Then the always enjoyable Sunday stroll onto Notre Dame's campus before lunch and goodbyes.

Trick or Treat

Trick or Treat! Even after looking like a cute little teddy bear, I still didn't received any Halloween Candy! Oh well, maybe next year.
