Before we moved away from Ohio we decided to drive up to Palmyra New York and go to a few church history sites. Our first stop was the Smith farm. There was one time when a mob was coming to look for the Golden Plates so Joseph hid them under a few bricks in the fire place almost exactly where Madelyn is standing (bottom center).

Madelyn was a great little travel bug on our tip. She did wonderful on the 8 hour drive and then entertained herself when things got a little to deep for a one year old. Here is Madelyn looking like a model playing peek-a-boo with the fence.

After the tour of the smith home and a little history about their farm, we were set free to walk out in the Sacred Grove.  In the grove we were able to find a nice quiet place to sit a reflect the events that happened there, and we had a little family devotional. We enjoyed this part so much that we hope to bring all of our kids back there someday

Our next stop was the Book of Mormon printing press.  This was very interesting because the little town of Palmyra had one of the most up to date printing machines in the U.S. That was the only reason Joseph Smith was even able to print 500 hundred copies of the Book of Mormon back in the 1800's.

And then before we left town we decided to drive up to Niagara Falls.  They were beautiful! My favorite part was the glacier that was formed from all the mist in the cold winter. Madelyn's favorite part was the fact that there were fish in the water (even though you couldn't see them). Dan's favorite part was the fact that I was stuck in the car for 10 minutes because there was a squirrel sitting outside my car door. Over all it was a cold little adventure, but very worth it.
